Pros

- I've met some of my closest friends here. - I created great client relationships I still maintain.

Cons

In my first six weeks at G2, I filed a serious harassment complaint with my manager and HR. The individual I filed against (I now know) had numerous reports filed against him prior to me joining the company ranging from physically intimidating and harassing building employees so that the building management had issued a warning to the company regarding him, to other employees (all female) issuing complaints regarding his unprofessionalism and risk to the business, to a top client prospect (also female) issuing a complaint against him for harassing her by calling her over a dozen times in a day and physically confronting her while in a bar outside of work. Despite all this, I was told that I needed to handle it myself. And I was then forced to continue to closely work with him and continue to have to file complaints about him for the rest of my employment. One of the reasons given to me was that, no one else can handle him.... My VP would not speak to me about any of the complaints I had filed and instead told me that I was paid enough money to not have the option of having management step in, and that I would need to continue to handle it myself. This individual was able to move on from the company with a positive referral from management. While at G2, I was exposed to incredibly toxic management styles. My colleagues who went on maternity and paternity leave were trash talked by senior leadership to HR and to other members of the team, such as myself. And in some instances, these colleagues were forced to return earlier than they requested in-line with state maternity and paternity leave policy, at risk of completely losing their jobs. These individuals also returned to demoted job titles. One such individual who ended up fighting it and taking the additional leave owed to them, was used as an example of how not to act when asking for time off in front of the rest of the department while on leave by the team director. I was consistently throughout my entire time at G2 harassed and bullied by my colleagues and clients. Every time I raised the issue to my direct leadership, I was told that it was my job to handle these situations. And that I was paid enough money to not need managerial assistance. One of my colleagues bullied me into covering for a vacation they took to Asia without the company knowing. This individual then flew from Asia sick to the United States. I contracted Covid from this individual and was severely sick, but took only a week off work. When I returned to work, I was put on a performance plan for gossip based on a false claim made by this same individual to my VP while I was out. I had been nominated by the same member of senior leadership (my VP) 3 weeks prior for exemplary work that was described as a model of what others should be doing in their jobs, yet this VP sited in the report that I had clearly not been meeting expectations for months. I was never given the opportunity to combat these false claims. The colleague who had bullied me, then infected me, then went to management and made up claims about me, had no repercussions and is still at the company. (This individual is known across departments as a bully. Yelling at individuals in professional settings, sending mean text messages, emails and slacks. But has not had any repercussions.) What resulted was that while I was sick with Covid I was forced to submit my resignation without ever having the chance to defend myself. I then had to look for a new job in a pandemic using an inhaler for the first time in my life in between breaks to make sure I could breathe. I was told my certain members of leadership that they would be a reference for me. When they were called, I was told by each company that they never answered the phone nor returned their calls. The senior leadership member (my VP) who took these actions to get rid of me never spoke to me again for the remainder of my two months with the company and has never spoken to me since. I worked 14-16 hour days my entire time at the company. I was known by the janitorial staff since I was always the first one in and the last one out. The janitorial staff were the only ones who left me a note on my desk while i was out wishing me a speedy recovery. I was told by other members of leadership (who I did not directly report into) that they "saw me" and that "it's clear you are the glue keeping all this together. Please hold tight," since I had repeatedly gone to them for help with the toxic work environment. But when push came to shove, no one protected me, or stood up for me. There was at one point in the beginning of my time at G2 a "Women of G2" Slack channel. This channel was shut down by HR because the women in it had been accused of "man-hating" by other members of the company. In combination with how: - I was treated, - How bullies and harassers were treated/not punished, - How colleagues taking legal maternity and paternity leave were intimidated into returning to work despite legally being allowed to take more time with their babies and ultimately demoted, - How women who wanted to speak to other women in the company were treated, and the lack of female representation in senior leadership, this is not a company I would recommend anyone join.

Thank you for your honesty and sharing your story. Through recent feedback and conversations with G2ers, it became clear that we have not always lived up to our values or expectations to create a safe work environment for all, and we have to do better not only in the coming weeks, but always. Our commitment is that moving forward is that every workplace issue will be taken seriously, without exception. Every workplace issue will be investigated, without exception. Everyone at G2 will know how to voice a concern, will feel safe doing so, and will know how that concern has been addressed. This is our commitment to each and every G2er. Over the past few months, the leadership team has been involved in important and tough conversations about employee safety issues and concerns at G2. These conversations have made it clear that we need to make immediate changes to improve at G2, and we need to make sure these changes are outcome-driven and lasting. It was also made clear that we needed to do a better job of sharing our existing policies and procedures with you including the ways to report an incident / concern and our investigation process for reviewing all reports. As a result, we made immediate updates to our reporting and investigating processes as well as more effectively communicating these processes; established a committee of G2 employees who will work closely with senior leadership on issues of safety, inclusion and culture; launched an anonymous whistleblower reporting system; and will implement additional training for all levels of the company. We’ve also developed a company-wide values statement to codify our commitment to workplace safety for all. We’ve also developed metrics to measure our success against these values. It is our responsibility and our commitment to do better. Thank you for your candor, honesty, and sharing your story. We hope your next opportunity is giving you the support and safety you deserve, and thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are good. The team I work with is incredibly kind, helpful, and supportive. When in the office, lunch, snacks, and drinks were supplied.

Cons

Employee safety is a massive concern for me. A colleague behaved very inappropriately to me and I did not receive appropriate assistance, support, or resolution from HR. While I was involved in the initial investigation, I was quickly left in the dark and only received an update after I had followed up. It’s extremely disappointing to feel as though voices are being silenced. The lack of accommodations brings anxiety and an unsafe feeling, which is not fair for anyone who has experienced any sort of sexual harassment in their workplace.

Moving forward, every workplace issue will be taken seriously, without exception. Every workplace issue will be investigated, without exception. Everyone at G2 will know how to voice a concern, will feel safe doing so, and will know how that concern has been addressed. We recognize we still have a lot of work to do to win all of your trust and to ensure 100% of you feel totally safe in your work environment. The first steps in doing so are to hold ourselves accountable with measurable commitments and tangible actions outlined here: https://culture.g2.com/commitments. Pros

- Used to have free lunches. - Unlimited PTO. - Most of your colleagues are genuine people who are great at their jobs. Once they climb the management ladder, they become cogs in the G2 machine.

Cons

- Tone deaf leadership who only look out for their own careers and public perception. Just look at the CEO. Days after a second round of brutal layoffs in just 6 months, he brags on LinkedIn about being on the cover of SAS magazine and being featured in Crain’s Top 50 Under 50. Is this really a leader worthy of good publicity? - The same can be said for the CMO, who bailed on his team after both layoffs. The first time he took nearly a month-long vacation overseas and came back pretending nothing happened. The second time (he’s still OOO at the time of writing this), he’s on a remote camping trip. Is this a leader worthy of respect from his team? No wonder why his top VPs left for better roles during the pandemic. - The former CRO was a bully to his employees and forced out due to many negative reviews on Glassdoor. Unfortunately, he now heads up ThreeKit, the CEO’s latest project. It’s so painfully obvious he cares more about ThreeKit than G2 now. - Middle-management can be toxic depending on your team and routinely tests your loyalty to the company. - If you’re not a “yes man” you will get isolated quickly. Many of the people who were laid off questioned poor strategies at G2. They went against the status quo and thought too outside the box. They were promptly eliminated. - G2 is incredibly wasteful. They spent nearly 7-figures on a new staircase as part of a new office in Chicago. They went in hyper-growth mode and opened offices in London, Bangalore, and other small locations when they knew they didn’t have the funds to do so. I cannot tell you how much food was wasted each day in the kitchen from their free lunches and restocks. Their REACH event hemorrhaged money and fell short of expectations for the sales team. The wasteful spending got so bad, Business Insider published an article about it.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. We hear your concerns about senior leadership being more sensitive to employees’ feelings. A couple of weeks ago, at the monthly All-Hands Meeting, our CEO acknowledged this feedback, and the Senior Leadership Team, as a whole has taken steps to work on empathy as part of their current Conscious Leadership training. We are also excited about our new CRO, who is already implementing cultural changes to support our talented and hardworking sales team. We also understand that given the current economic climate, decisions pre-COVID-19 are now being scrutinized. The staircase at our headquarters was part of a larger strategy to create a fun and inviting work environment. Pre-COVID, office design and office environments were an important element of company culture. The staircase and lobby were also designed to be a gathering space for the Chicago tech community, our charitable partners, as well as G2. We believe post-COVID, this space can serve that purpose again. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. Your thoughts and concerns matter and that is why Glassdoor reviews, along with other channels of feedback, are always shared with the leaders of our company. The last few months have been challenging and truly tested our company and our culture. It has not been easy but we will continue to adapt, change, and commit to being better.
