Pros

Exposure to a variety of different technologies and languages. The people you work alongside are great, hard working, and smart people.

Cons

The people you work FOR, on the other hand, are a different story. There is a severe lack of trust from management for anyone but themselves and the select few who will do anything for them. Morale is horribly low, and the only "solution" provided is to take teams out to random lunches. No matter how many times concerns are brought to management, they refuse to listen and instead opt to just cover for each other. There isn't much room for promotion. You go from engineer to "team lead" (to which there is no benefit to actually want). There are also only 6 holidays a year, one of which is Good Friday (But there is a decent amount of PTO to start).

Pros

I've had the pleasure of working with some of the smartest engineers I've ever met at G3. You constantly are challenged at G3 and get to work on different and exciting projects rather than being stuck with one thing. I definitely enjoyed my time here, the people I have met, great benefits, and opportunity to learn from some of the best. You immediately get 19 PTO days, 6% matching of your 401K and have your healthcare benefits completely covered by the company. The pay for this position was very competitive. Also I liked the laid back culture and have made some great life long friends.

Cons

Only get a few holidays off, cannot work from home, very structured schedule.

Pros

Good culture of mentorship for less experienced engineers. It’s possible to learn a lot in a short time here and there are a wide variety of interesting problem areas to work on.

Cons

Compensation is poor and there is an (illegal) verbal policy instructing employees not to discuss pay. Raises and promotions are based on office politics and not on track record of performance/results, so there is very little room for meaningful growth. Employees are intimidated into accepting these practices as “normal”. Software engineering practices are very different from most of the industry. In some areas this is effective but a lot of it amounts to “dogma” and the opinions of leadership. These practices don’t transfer well to other organizations so it becomes a career risk past a certain point. Abysmal handling of COVID. Rampant misinformation and keeping employees in the dark. No policy in place to prevent and control outbreaks. Work flexibility/remote work is not permitted. Prepare to risk your health and the health of your family if you work here.
