Pay is good. Close to home and in an area that is up and coming.

Cons

Company expects you to work 7 days a week with total disregard to family or life obligations. This company is continually looking for ways to take from employees without ever giving anything beyond our regular earnings. Very poor managment at lower levels, i.e. leaders, supervisors,production managers.

You can make top pay in a reasonable amount of time. They will let you learn as many processes as you want to learn.

GKN Sinter Metals, in Conover, is a small plant. You would think that employees would be more like a family. That is not the case. It is the worst company I have ever worked for! All companies are basically about the same. They believe rumors over facts, they don’t hide who are their favorites. If you don’t treat management like they are ‘rockstars,’ they don’t care for you, and don’t hide that either. I was there 7 years and they had 5 different HRs. It is a hot, nasty place, and they pay does not compensate for that. There is no heat or air. In some areas, you can not open the door or the dock door, for any air to circulate and that is the hottest part of the plant.

Sold to a company that just shut it down, screwed everyone who needed that job. What happens when workers don't have a voice in the company they make a profit for. Workers should own the means of production!
