Pros

A great boot camp for the worst case scenario at a company, every single day.

Cons

The executive leadership are the heart of the toxicity and lack of real mentorship. The culture messaging claims to be receptive to feedback. It's a hallucination. Employees fear their job security hour-by-hour and cannot grow or participate in improvements for . the business because of the fear-mongering generated by senior leadership. The HR and Content leaders are prolific in toxic management tendencies. Ultimately, I had to leave because of repeated pressure to manage similarly. No salary is worth stepping backwards in your career.

Pros

If you’re fortunate enough to be on a good team, there can be a good sense of camaraderie. Fast Paced and quick moving, nothing stays the same here for very long. Great place to just cruise and relax. Getting anything done here will land you in trouble.

Cons

Strategies and personnel will change so often and so quickly that you’ll have whiplash In 2020 alone 20+ people resigned (an additional 10 of people were laid off) A president who’s convinced himself that he’s a world class leader and that his company is the greatest in the world. But in actuality fails to bring his websites up-to-date for 2021. Far right leaning company president who recently had to shut down his conservative Twitter. Lowlights of what he’d posted there: Comparing the Summer 2020 BLM protests to “what happens when we take away Coachella”, strong sympathy for “pro-all American” views, “masks are for the week” and blaming China for COVID. High chance of your job being outsourced to Mexico or the Philippines, especially if you’re in Engineering. Uncertain future with regard to WFH and COVID policies. Currently still keeping the office open with people allowed/encouraged to come in. (There’s a pandemic) Oh the content side, this place is notorious for cheaping out and using the lowest priced vendor possible without regard for quality. On the design side, much of the design team was laid off in April 2020 in favor of an agency. This essentially makes it impossible to get anything done. Constant org restructures only to revert to the previous structure after lay offs have been made. (Reduce the personnel by half but double the work) The only way to get ahead is to join the cult of personality and hope to be gifted by the nepotism circle. Little to no racial diversity (plenty of women in leadership and I applaud them for that). Largely, the leadership team does not reflect or have parity with what the rank and file population looks like. Despite many strategy changes, don’t expect to make any progress on executing those strategies. You’ll get really good at pivoting though. Everything ties back to ROI and don’t expect to get any help unless your department is bringing in major revenue.

Shady company with toxic leadership

Pros

The TA team does a good job in acquiring top talent that’s smart and diverse. I made a lot of meaningful connections in my time at ConsumerTrack, and it hurt to part ways with the team. I learned a ton about publishing and personal finance at my time at ConsumerTrack thanks to a select few extraordinary employees on the content team. ConsumerTrack will make you feel welcome. They spare no expense in buying you meals, bougie office spaces, swag, etc.

Cons

Not really sure where to start; clearly fake Glassdoor reviews, the gaslighting by management, the incompetence of the HR team, the poor retention rates. Top leadership is unprofessional. I’ve seen the president of this company show his true colors at a company event where there was heavy drinking at 11am. Alcoholic culture isn’t a way to make employees happy. On that note, the same leader held and extremely awkward “pump-up” all-call once in which he blamed the shortfalls of the company on people who weren’t working hard enough. The content team is completely overworked. You can’t produce legitimate content with a half-day turnaround time. ConsumerTrack employs gifted writers who will sadly get burned out eventually.
