Pros

GPS offers great compensation in my experience and the executive management have a solid vision and are great about having open communication with you. They don't feel inaccessible or out of touch. People generally seem as if they have a passion for their work and are well skilled at what they do. Team activities were fun (movies, board games) and people usually seemed to care about each other on the development team. The head of development is clearly talented at what he does and has an active passion for the technology which in turn makes you feel excited about some of the work. The onboarding/training has its ups and downs but generally does a good job, even if there is a LOT to take in.

Cons

The benefits were pretty standard-fare and you accrue your PTO as the year progresses but I was verbally encouraged multiple times not to go negative, which means you are discouraged from time off at the beginning of the year even if you are not in your first year. I was routinely disrespected by a specific member of the company and was repeatedly told this was normal and everyone just had to deal with it. I was actively encouraged not to speak out against it and to take it in stride. The management over my team constantly would be impassioned by some idea or project and then would change his mind and not inform anyone. Communication was almost always one-way and the idea of "tell me your honest opinions and feedback" was almost always lip-service. Rarely anything changed when I offered feedback and when I tried to suggest ideas, they were often shot down before I had even finished speaking. As much as GPS felt close, there were also high-school-esque cliches and departments often talked about each other in "gossipy" ways and complained. It makes you feel as if there are often unspoken trenches around groups of people. The head of development clearly grew into that position naturally but hasn't seemed to have his personality, temperament or mindset grow with it. He often feels like he wears his emotions on his sleeve and engages in behavior well beneath his position.

Pros

Was the perfect company to work for until it was acquired by Corpay

Cons

Corpay cut 30% of the workforce after the acquisition, despite everything they were saying about everyone having a spot.

GPS, Inc Capital Markets Internship

Pros

You gain a basic understanding of the foreign currency market. Good atmosphere. Fun co workers. If you do well it is easy to stay on.

Cons

Don't receive much formal training, it is more learn as you go. The only way you will learn a more in depth understanding of FX is if you actively ask and search it out on your own. Almost all of the internship is cold calling.
