Pros

The work can be fulfilling and interesting if done right.

Cons

This was one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. It is run by a controlling and micromanaging owner, Sam Garvin, who only cares about doing it his way and refuses to listen to any alternatives. His style of managing does not empower his employees in the least, and he is rude, demeaning, and harassing in his email communications. He enjoys pitting employees against each other for his own amusement. Despite the variable factors of productivity that go into an industry like this, he claims to know all the answers and refuses to listen to anything else. He acts like this to everyone in the company, including management. There is a constant sense of fear of Sam as well as an overall downtrodden attitude by all employees, which is a result of Sam's involvement in all aspects of the business. He is a terrible boss and does not care about his employees in the least. The culture at Garvin is a "gotcha" culture, where people tattle and rat on each other for minimal things, and employees are hesitant to positively work together with one another. Even if you have a positive idea, you would usually hold it back due to the culture Sam breeds. Management feels the pressure from above, and takes a "no exceptions" approach to their style. There is very little leeway for personal items, either. Someone will always take notice if one shows up a minute late or leaves a minute early, rather than focusing on the productivity of employees. Overall - the culture here is depressing and toxic. Sam Garvin does not know how to manage people, and is the reason that culture exists. He focuses on the trivial aspects of the job, rather than on how to be more productive and grow. I would never work for Sam Garvin again, and recommend potential employees look elsewhere for employment.

Pros

If you are good at excel, you won't have to work too hard. Used this job to get experience and leverage a better paying job.

Cons

-CEO built this business on taking advantage of low income people (your morals/ethics will be pushed) -Culture sucks -Different departments throw other departments under the bus -Online systems are poorly built, things break ALL the time -You will have to manually manipulate data from online systems because they are so broken -CEO will blame everyone but himself -Pay is really low -Must work in office because the CEO lives in 1964

Pros

Really, there are none. Just when you think there is, the rug gets pulled out from under you.

Cons

Your ethics and morals will be put into question. You'll begin to think you are the one losing your mind, but in reality, the rules change daily and everything you may have been successful at in previous employment, you will question your own expertise. Mr. Garvin holds rebate checks and mails out with very little time left for people to redeem their rebate.
