      A good place to start your career but not be a good long-term choice.

      Pros

      • Large research and engineering team so they attract many young engineers fresh out of school. • The company is union free and appears to be financially stable. It has been around for many years and will probably remain so. • There is a generous focus on charity and social activities • Small pockets of fun and social people.

      Cons

      • The company location and a salary scale that is not commensurate with comparable positions in Ottawa makes it harder to compete with other companies for experienced talent. • The technology is aging and no longer innovative. The company seems focused on aviation and not actively looking at other uses for its technologies. • Poor processes and planning tools. It takes a long time and many meetings to fix any issues. • Gastops has a few long-term employees that are set in their ways and are often roadblocks to progress or change. They are often condescending or openly rude when presented ideas or opinions from others. Aggressive behavior of some and a general cya mentality results in a very poor cross functional working environment. • A major problem is that management seems to only focus on operational issues and does not seem to care about improving the lack of unity, acceptance or respect within the company

You are correct in your statement that we have a real focus on giving back to our local community through various fundraising activities we carry out through the year. We take pride in ensuring we play a part in fostering the communities in which we operate. Regarding your comment around our salary scale, we are sorry you feel that we may not seem competitive, however, you can rest assure we do complete an annual market review of salaries to ensure we are on par with current salaries for same or similar roles. Also, thank you for the feedback on our technology, however, we are no strictly focused on the aviation industry, but rather we are focused on other industries such as Wind, Energy, Oil & Gas and the Defense sector just to know a few. We really appreciate your advice and we take it to heart, that is why we have been making many strides in implementing various technologies across the organization to improve our workflows even further.

      Hired as a cash grab

      Pros

      I got to work on helicopters. Lab technicians were great guys to work with. Take every other Friday off by working an extra half hour each day.

      Cons

      Supervising engineer had just got her professional certification and didn't have enough experience to be in the position she was. Supervisor thought she was better than everyone else, even though they had 20+ years experience over her. I was hired as a cash grab so they could charge me out at a high rate, but didn't actually have any work for me to do. I ended up just sitting around trying to look busy.
