Pros

working with a diverse D/A inmate patient population. working with (few) colleagues that have or are working on acquiring their Bachelor's or Master's in counseling. The job skills training instructor (JE) was a joy to learn from.

Cons

The pay is horrible for what you are expected to do. There is no shortage of groups, and little to no time to run them. Fast-paced environment with no clinical support. Clinical directors and supervisors in name only, as they have no credentials, i.e. MSW, LPC, LSW, LCSW, to supervise or run a human services dept. "Clinical supervisors" supervision consists of managing your productivity, and not assisting you with refining clinical skills, (see aforementioned point above). Most employees in the building after a month of hire appears on edge, ready to snap.

Pros

A program team that was awesome

Cons

To many to list here. If you value your integrity and ethical behavior - stay away from this organization. Lowest pay-scale in the industry and many of the formal authority are recovered addicts with NO business acumen. Most employess are disgruntled and also looking to leave. This is what happens when you make an intelligent human being into a ‘thing’ through the obsolete and ineffective practice of micro-management. Dis-empowering a person is at the heart of most organizational failures. This is the only model gaudenzia follows - reactive and micro-manage.

High Turn Over, High Burn Out Rate

Pros

There are some sincere staff who actually care about clients and try to help people along in their recovery.

Cons

The ones who sit in high places don't seem to really care about staff and/or clients. The ones on the front lines in the programs start off as caring individuals but a couple years (or even months) in and they are burned out and not really effective at their jobs anymore. Some people in senior management just collect a paycheck and you're not exactly sure what they do... If you sincerely care about people who are struggling with addiction, you will be highly disappointed to see how these programs are run. Front line program staff are grossly... grossly underpaid while those in higher up positions are sitting pretty, riding around in their company-payed-for vehicles. Gaudenzia has the potential to offer quality programming but because of the chaotic, unprofessional, and demeaning way that it is run as a company, it is bad news. I would really not recommend any one work here let alone send any of their family members here for treatment. Please reconsider if you are looking at this place for either employment or treatment. It may have been good back in the early days, but now it is the pits. It's actually very sad.
