WORST EMPLOYER I'VE EVER HAD

Pros

None, working here was that horrible! Towards the end of my employment I could barely drag myself into work because of the awful, terrible environment that is called Gauntlett & associates. The office is DEAD silent for 10 hours a day and is only occasionally filled with David's wrath spewing tantrums that happen on a daily basis when something does not go exactly his way.

Cons

Everything. But in particular DAVID GAUNTLETT, the managing owner who will ensure your daily life is living hell. He is the sole reason I left the Firm and ran as far as I could from this office. I pray that no one ever has to work in an environment with the verbal abuse that David spews on a daily basis. Whether you are an Attorney, in marketing, or an assistant, David will belittle you to ensure you feel stupid and useless over and over again until you quit like the rest of the staff. When I was an employee alone I saw about 5 people come in and out within a few months span given the horrible working environment. Candidates get hired and quickly quit within days once they realize how excruciating it is to work with David. Take heed to my review and the many others that have said to not even consider working at Gauntlett & Associates. His business model is failing and so is his mental sanity. Stay far, far away.

Proficient employees regularly receive full recognition of their time because they have mastered proper billing techniques and procure skills to produce quality work product that can be billed to clients. Indeed, all our present attorneys have mastered the art of recording virtually seamless time. Creating client value is a primary focus in our practice.

Pros

You will meet, briefly, very skilled and talented lawyers, before they quit.

Cons

Everything that the other former employee wrote in the review titled "RUN. DON'T WALK. RUN. Get away from David Gauntlett as soon as possible" is 100% accurate and not hyperbole. Additionally, David will require you to arrive at 8:00 am, which in LA/OC traffic is nearly impossible and unrealistic, unless you happen to live across the street and the 405 has no impact on your commute. I was berated for being in at 8:20 am due to traffic accidents on the 405S, after leaving my house in Long Beach at 6:50 am. Avoid this place at all costs.

A law firm whose national practice rarely leads to in-office conferences with clients, with the majority of its legal work dedicated to legal research case analysis and briefing is a quiet place. But the office is filled with stimulating conversations about the best approaches to novel legal issues and advice about the most effective use of exemplars to short cut creation of solid legal work product that will benefit our clients. Meeting commitments to be at work that are clearly spelled out in advance in the employment offer is not an unreasonable requirement and should not come as a surprise to a new employee. Successful associates understand this, they also realize that a number of East Coast clients need them to be available to interact with them in real time is part of the high level of service the firm takes pride in.

Pros

The only pros were proximity to where I lived and the bonds that I forged with other employees at the time due to the psychological abuses and unscrupulous behavior we all endured by David Gauntlett.

Cons

I agree with and echo all of the other cons already established in other reviews here. They are not exaggerations. In addition, the pay and the perks were not enticing enough to subject myself to the psychological abuse and mental hopscotch I had to endure and tolerate. Mr. Gauntlett demonstrates a level of callous disregard for the humanity and well-being of his employees to the point of exemplifying the characteristics of a sociopath and a miscreant. If you are reading this review and considering whether or not you'd like to take a position at Gauntlett, I would like to encourage you to consider other options and keep interviewing. There are many other fantastic companies from small to large that will pay you more and/or provide an uplifting environment, teach you more, and provide you with perks and benefits that are worth your time.
