Pros

Amazing concept if carried our properly.

Cons

The company is ran by people directly related to investors, so whomever they choose to like, so who gets to rule the roost. There have been a handful of rumors about sexual harassment, but when your parent holds the keys to the vault, there is really nothing that will happen due to this harassment. If you are a reasonably good looking woman, then I definitely make good with the COO, as the office rumor is that our manager played nice and was handsomely rewarded with a salary and position she has no education or expertise in. Given this fact, we were basically treated however her attitude deemed we deserved on any particular day, and when brought up to HR (laughable as HR has no background in it *her words*) nothing is done and often times she lets the boss know you complained about them. As others have stated there is a lot of lying to employees and clients that not only happens openly, but is encouraged as to try and paint as rosy a picture as possible in order to keep the cash flowing from the investors who hold a staged meeting about data that just isn't validated or supported by metrics that are industry standard for SaaS companies. I could go on, but it will not change a thing at this company.

Pros

Um...Not many. Calls are not recorded so you don't feel under pressure to hit certain talking points that may or may not have anything to do with helping the customer.

Cons

Where do I start. Rules and procedures are made and changed quickly with no notice. They may or may not apply the next time something comes up. Then when you say you didn't know things changed, you are chastised for not following procedure. The mood in the office depends on the mood of the manager. And since the mood of the manager changes at the drop of hat, you never know what you are walking into. Technical support? Forget about it. If a client has an issue we submit a ticked which goes into a void and it may or may not get resolved some time in the next few months. You may get an email back asking to contact the client to see if it is still an issue. So they don't fix anything, just hope it goes away. Not everyone is treated the same. If a rule applies to one person, it should apply to everyone. Some people in this very small office do whatever they want while others get in trouble for the same thing. The management says they don't tolerate bashing because of religion or political party but it happens all the time.

I’m glad to see that you appreciate our different approach to customer service work, but I’m sorry to hear that other aspects did not serve you quite as well. I understand that the growth phase of new companies can be difficult and I hope that our evolution helps us to adjust in order to learn from our mistakes and improve. We strive to be an open and accepting environment and I will continue to work to make sure that every employee feels this; we’re sorry if you did not. Please contact our Director of Operations so that we can address some of your issues.

Pros

If you keep the right people happy with you, you can pretty much behave any way you like. There are a handful of genuinely good people employed.

Cons

If I could I would rate negative stars. During my time at Gearfire I was berated more than in any other setting in my life; professional or personal. Publicly humiliating employees for innocent mistakes is unacceptable. Management was inconsistent with policy, rules changed often and applied to some employees but not others. We were encouraged daily to lie to customers about an upgrade to the website version being released "within the next few months." That never happened in the 4.5 years I was employed. At one point several employees quit an masse. The work load from those employees was then dumped on the existing Account Managers and we were chastised for having a difficult time keeping up with triple the normal workload. My director had frequent mood swings. She had no concept of speaking professionally to employees and became offended if you had the audacity to ask for a civil tone. Sexual harassment was witnessed on a daily basis and political shaming was the norm. Working from home was not even considered even though all work done was web based.
