Pros

Good medical benefits through the Union. Flexible scheduling, holiday pay after several years of service. Hours are pretty good.

Cons

Hard to get promoted in this company. I have worked for Gelson's for four years and just received a promotion from my entry-level position.

Pros

Quality, customer service is what we do best. My fellow workers are awesome and low management.

Cons

First hired 2 yrs ago i was proud to work for Gelsons. NOW employees are forced to work 6 days a week, vacation time denied, no end in sight for our grueling hours. Your just a number and you feel like a work horse. Did i mention low pay.

Pros

great work environment, clean, organized, relatively disciplined management at the store level. the company has held on to an archaic reputation for "quality products," celebrities frequent their stores

Cons

minimal employee discount, "the customer is ALWAYS right," senior management and administration is mostly aloof and Machiavellian.
