Pros

Co workers were nice and supportive

Cons

- Manager regularly called me stupid, raising his voice, in front of other employees. - Manager would often blame things on me, even though I had nothing to do with them. - I once submitted code that needed refactoring, manager's comments were: "given how much we pay you I expect more." - I was regularly berated in front of other employees for not doing a satisfactory job. Little to no advice was given on how to get better at engineering, mostly I was just put down by my manager. I went home feeling sick many days on account of this.

Nice place to work

Pros

Pretty low stress environment, friendly co-workers, many people have been at company a long time. The benefits are generous with a healthy amount of PTO. Very good place to work if you are focused on work life balance. CEO seems to genuinely care about the employees and views company as a family business. Good (slow but steady) progression of products and roll out to new customers and a healthy sales pipeline. Company is profitable.

Cons

No clear career progression track/system. There is a lack of social/company events in the US, which at a bare minimum leaves some employees feeling a bit isolated. (The company HQ office in Basel is much better about organizing company events, however). Different groups are very siloed and rarely intermingle. East coast office located in suburbs not ideal if you live in the city.

Pros

Great place to start your career to jump to big pharma.

Cons

Low (almost non existent) budget to build solutions. Also you are told what to do and are micromanaged, not the opposite where the employee take the reins. Also when you leave they get pistoff with you for pursuing your career elsewhere.

Dear colleague, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn about that your employee experience at Genedata did not match your expectations. We care about our employees and we regret, if a colleague decides to pursue other career opportunities outside of Genedata, as we are interested in a sustainable working relationship. Genedata, as an international company, headquartered in Switzerland, invests a lot of effort and time to onboard new colleagues like you with a detailed onboarding plan, followed by training on the job. This close support might be perceived as a form of micromanagement at the beginning of an employment relationship. Due to the complexity and high standards of our products each associate is experiencing a steep learning curve and is provided the opportunity to develop himself/herself on the job. Best regards Nadja Lang
