Pros

Working with such wonderful people and materials, doing what I love - helping others and organizing - make this job a pleasure to show up for!

Cons

Unfortunately, the pay and lack of benefits make it impossible to survive on this position alone. There really is no other negative aspect to working for this establishment.

Pros

Group interview with the leadership of the county library. Friendly and professional staff, asked me if I was an active member of the library and what was the last book I read.

Cons

Not too much room for promotion or full time positions.

Pros

It's been amazing working with the Georgia Public Library Service. The agency is lean and returns over 80% of its funding back to Georgia's library community. Programs are designed to leverage efficiencies of scale. The job allows for a good work/life balance. You will definitely work hard, deal with a variety of politics, and need to be flexible with shifting priorities, but leadership is supportive. Technically, you are an employee of the university system so you also can receive tuition assistance.

Cons

The agency itself is small, fewer than 50 people, so promotional opportunities within the agency are limited.
