Pros

Most of the staff talented and is great to work with. The clients you are assigned to usually have interesting projects and respect your expertise and contributions.

Cons

The company espouses diversity, inclusion and integrity. However, they did not provide reasonable accommodations for me when I told HR I was Neurodivergent. GM management berated me for “failing to listen” even after I notifying HR and asked for help. Then the retaliated by terminating me in the same week.

Pros

Giant Machines is hands down the best place I've worked for. The people are all fantastic and absolutely willing to help each other grow. The leadership is transparent, open to feedback, and always looking to help employees continue their personal and professional growth. Work-life balance here is a priority. The company doesn't want to burn people out. If you do wind up working late or crazy hours, someone will check in to make sure you're okay. The one week I wound up working late, I was given a comp day and the CEO wrote to me to say that he appreciated my efforts. As an engineer, I feel like I've grown exponentially in the time I've been here. The projects I work on are interesting and challenging. I never feel alone in them, though. The team is always here to help out. The company is growing at a steady and sustainable pace. The culture is phenomenal. Normally, "culture" is just another stupid corporate buzzword that I can't help roll my eyes at. At Giant Machines, "culture" is a very real thing. The company actively works to promote a culture of inclusion, diversity, growth (personal and professional), and collaboration. Such efforts don't feel forced at all, as they might in other companies. Rather, I genuinely enjoy it.

Cons

Because of the steady growth, there are some slight growing pains (e.g., processes and the like). This is not too bad, though, and the leadership is always transparent about such changes.

Pros

Work is enjoyable, unless you've been put on a project for multiple years. You don't get to pick your teams or projects. Good for building experience if you're a newer engineer. Work life balance is the great. Summer Fridays where you can clock out at 2pm.

Cons

Don't believe some of the fake 5 star reviews written by HR on here. Low pay. They'll try to buy you with company events, office happy hours, but won't provide market pay and raises for the role. Fake culture. The culture will try to pretend like it is not corporate like other companies, but it is. HR won't care about your problems, and will be more concerned about how it can advance GM's agenda. Remember that they are never on your side no matter how much of your ally they try to sound. Hybrid. You are required to come into the office 2 days a week. No exceptions. They have fired people for even just complaining about this.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review and giving us feedback we can work from. We are sorry to hear that your experience at GM didn’t meet expectations, as we care deeply about fostering an empathetic culture where everyone feels valued. If we came up short here, that’s on us, and something we’ll continue to work toward doing better. It’s important to us for all employees to have their opinions heard and their individual circumstances taken into account. Hybrid work policies have been difficult to create and implement across the world post-pandemic. We understand your frustration around the change but do want to clarify that our hybrid work policy provides far more flexibility and accommodation than your review suggests, and disagree with the assertion that complaining about GM’s hybrid work policy provides grounds for termination.
