Pros

Great job You make your own schedule and get to get out and have fun taking photos and most people at the assignments are friendly.

Cons

You can recieve a message that you have been removed from a gig. It doesn't usually say why and they won't pay you for it. You can't respond to gigwalk email you have to go throught the ap and it shows where the company that hired gigwalk has removed you. some problems are 1. was sent to photograph a display in a citgo gas station. gas station is now a shell station. I included that with the work. Too bad for me. The response was we asked for citgo, even though the address was shown at the door and THEIR gps took me to the citgo. An employee told me it used to be a citgo about 2 years earlier. I included that info. tough luck. no pay. 2. A funeral company changed their name. same problem. 3. there were papers under the paper that was being photographed. The company wants the photo within so many miles from the place being photographed. tough luck. 4. a display sign is shown in a photo of the product way above my head. I included a photo of the sign in a later question, but because the sign wasn't visable in the photo tough luck. 5. they don't care how far away you drive, how many tolls, how much gas it's up to you to choose which jobs you want which is fantastic, but you don't know if you will get paid. Obviously you won't drive an hour away for six dollars, so if you combine it, that's great, except they aren't paying. tough luck. 5. Clients have my photos without my getting paid for them. One is probably going into a magazine or internet article or book. tough luck. 6. Until gigwalk gets paid neither will you. The problem is there is no recourse. You can't respond to the complaints. I thought this would be a perfect job but ended up costing me money. Their response is always You are welcome to go back and submit it again.

Team really wants to succeed but management is an issue.

Pros

Enjoyed working with engineers, sales and client services. Food and snacks. Lunch on Fridays. Can't really think of anything else though.

Cons

You will feel your soul being sucked dry on a daily basis. Very bad leadership and unrealistic ideas on resourcing vs actual work to do. Non management co-workers were a pleasure to work with. The stress though brought on by senior management's inability to secure deals or maintain scale in head count is a tangible issue.

Pros

It's a great place to come and learn things quickly if you are hungry. You really can contribute across different business functions. If you believe in the SaaS industry this company definitely has the potential to make a dent in the retail industry and you can play a role in that. Also, they pay fairly well although their stock probably won't be worth a lot ultimately.

Cons

If you are looking for a startup experience - there are tons of better places out there. Not that Gigwalk is completely horrible but there are just lots of better places out there - so do your homework. If you have just one job offer and you pick Gigwalk, you are in for a lot of bad surprises. Gigwalk still suffers from the day-to-day ego issues of a co-founder and the (latest, third) CEO is still figuring things out. Then sometimes have fights in front of the whole team so it can be pretty toxic in the office - and indicates the overall maturity of the leadership. At least three director level folks have quit in the last 12 months and those positions have not been filled so they definitely have a problem attracting and retaining middle management. The company has finally settled on a business plan after a lot of pivots but they don't have the patience to invest and execute over the long-term. They want results overnight and they are completely comfortable burning the team out over that. Just not ok and the results speak for themselves - every single long-standing employee has quit and moved on to better places. Why would you want to work here if you are confident and sure of your skills?
