Pros

There are many amazing people. A health & wellness company naturally attracts many positive, healthy people. They offer mid-day yoga class Monday & Wednesday and occasional catered lunches. The product has been said to change, and even “save” lives. Great place to advance your particular skillset.

Cons

It is a yoga company after all… A place where the Vinyasa flows like wine and Yogis flock like the salmon of Capistrano. Leaders preaching consciousness, radical candor and work-life balance. Then, one day, I find myself in down-dog thinking… what the F is going on around here? Why is the vibe so... off? Why is this pose so hard? And why am I so stressed that my mind can’t stop racing for a 15-minute flow? But my troubled thoughts are quickly assuaged as management reassures me that “things are changing”, “everything is an open book”, “live your fullest self.” So I nod my head with excitement and confusion and chug along eating banana bread and pocketing avocados. Months, maybe years later, during a midday flow, the teacher ends with a profound thought: “attune yourself to your surroundings, observe things as they are.” Ok so, if facts are facts, then what the executives preach must be fiction, because how else would a yoga company be filled with so many unfulfilled, smart, ambitious people? How would negativity, frustration, confusion & politics be so pervasive in an ethos of mindfulness, consciousness and other yogic buzzwords? What do these buzzwords even mean? And is the CEO’s article on Buzzfeed stating that “how we do things is more important than what we do” reflective of reality? The company then hosts an excellent communications workshop, and we learn that every individual and department, no matter how disparate their duties, share the same disappointments, yet only one common denominator. It’s the only thing a 9-page culture doc, 8 additional layers of management, and infinite preaching of yogic brainwash can’t cure - poor leadership. And bad breeds worse as you witness the loudest, most egotistical individuals crap-talk their way to the top, while the good guys head out the door. Meanwhile, management continues to spin its head to diagnose this elusive “problem”, looking everywhere - except the mirror. You expect that most companies will use you to stuff their own pockets, but there’s something extra twisted and demeaning about it when it’s a Yoga company with such a strong positive outward impact, yet little inward trust and appreciation.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We hear what you have to say and after reflecting on your story, we’re disappointed in ourselves that we helped create the conditions for your experience and sincerely apologize that you didn't feel supported. We value clear, direct, timely communication. Every manager is available to discuss your concerns and answer any questions at any time. We have been long-time fans of Conscious Business as well as the great work being done by other individuals and companies that are creating values-based, mission/vision driven work environments. We are constantly working on ourselves to be the best leaders possible for the company and will always strive to do so. We’re human and constantly a work in progress, and we are co-creating an environment where every team member feels supported in being their best selves. While we can’t go back and change your experience, we do hope that this note gives you hope for the future of the company and the other employees at YogaGlo.

Pros

You can't do anything without leadership approval...which means you don't have to do much

Cons

Beneath the gleaming pretense of 'self-fulfillment' and 'positive vibes', lies an abyss of disorder and toxicity. The leadership, with the oft-reviewed Co-CEO at the helm, navigates like a storm without direction, dismissing the counsel of seasoned professionals in favor of whims and fancies. A staggering turnover rate paints a picture all on its own - a canvas of favoritism, a choir of ineptitude, and a pervasive sense of distrust. The company's trajectory is as murky as an overused yoga mat, leaving employees lost in a maze of indecision. It pained me to witness such potential and talent, only to see them get overshadowed by bureaucratic chaos. Despite the golden opportunity presented by the pandemic, the company squandered its potential for growth. As a desperate measure, they're now continuously hiking prices, seemingly to fend off insolvency. Their marketing strategies? A parade of failure, even with the inclusion of high-priced executives from giants like TikTok and Disney. Their rhetoric might be impressive, but their actions (or lack thereof) reveal a startling cluelessness. If you're drawn to a whirlpool of redundant meetings, a carousel of repeated decisions by a luxury car-loving executive squad with million-dollar salaries, then perhaps this is your cup of green tea. However, if you value your peace of mind, fervor for work, and aspirations for advancement, I'd advise steering far away from this tempest.

Pros

- beautiful office - product has or had loads of potential

Cons

- brutal politics - high turnover - absent CEO - company is run by ex-lawyer cost cutter - no clear organizational structure - zero company-wide focus on customers I believe there was a time in the past that this company had a big, bright future. Unfortunately, after years of in-fighting and loss of focus, it'll be a steep climb. Company culture is worse than it ever has been and no one really trusts one another. It's a depressing environment for anyone and I feel for those who joined the company when it seemed different.
