Pros

Most of the small team there are friendly and easy to approach people. Everyone gets on well and there is a sense of team spirit. This is an extremely fast-paced place and there is plenty of opportunity to grow and gain experience quickly.

Cons

The most basic benefits package of any employer I've ever had. The MD seems hell bent that everyone should be on a commission-based random bonus rather than giving staff security with a health pension scheme etc. Days are often extremely long with pressure from the top being suddenly placed on you to complete things in unrealistic times. There is is no vision or clear thinking, the management team have daily meetings with the MD in which priorities will change. This means you're working on something one day and then suddenly you're all to drop that and work on something else without explanation. Management team and MD clearly have a vested interest in their shares and making money and will thrown any member of staff under the bus who stands in their way. Huge 'lad' culture, too much drinking and unprofessional behaviour. The MD is the most unprofessional of all and is very dismissive of staff and their needs.

Pros

Good if you like to be very busy, and with the opportunities for responsibility that you'll find in a small understaffed company. Vibrant atmosphere.

Cons

Hardcore drinking culture undermines professionalism and alienates those who want to abstain. Nepotistic core management who are also shareholders. Management meetings with MD are too frequent (daily) to be useful. Company has a culture of braggadocio and high output rather than a serious commitment to high standards.

Pros

Some great employees and managers, a busy environment, and a lot of learning opportunities.

Cons

The entire company culture is "do what the MD says", which is very often a misinformed and badly researched decision. The MD's decisions led to mass redundancies twice in the space of 10 months. You're constantly asked to change priorities and abandon projects/tasks completely because the MD has changed his mind about something.
