      Reputation better than Reality

      Pros

      Excellent reputation in the community.

      Cons

      Poor management which leads to continuously chasing grants, fundraising dollars. No strategic plan. Most programming for minority youth is created and/or executed by white women. As well intentioned as they are, there is a disconnect with the kids and programming tends to coddle the kids instead of preparing them for real life.

      Great co-workers, very good benefits, beautiful work environment, organization does great work in the community.

      Cons

      Salaries are on the low-side, the organization could be more internally transparent - upper management is not as open with front line staff as they should be.

      Great vision, poor administration

      Pros

      GCC is a visionary community center.

      Cons

      Unfortunately it is overreaching and doesn't seem to support the programs equally in it's effort to be so far reaching. Teachers and lower admin are undercut by decisions higher up, creating very stressful work environments, poor cooperation and frustration. A shame.
