Pros
The only true benefits are the PTO accrual and the work-life balance my position allowed.
Cons
At first, I truly enjoyed working at Goodwill Southeast Georgia. The supervisor I had was incredibly inclusive and empowered me to continuously grow by providing me leadership opportunities. It drastically changed when this person left and I saw the true colors of Goodwill’s corporate office. It is so unfortunate how two-faced and catty some of the senior management is - once you stand up for yourself or have a differing opinion, it becomes difficult to work with them. I was excluded often when it was important for my job to be included, and was blocked from any internal growth opportunities. The rate of growth of the retail team is so overwhelming that the super small support teams struggle to keep up. The last year of my employment was met with such disappointment learning that I wasn’t truly valued for the massive weight I pulled nor the expertise and connections I shared to bridge the gaps of their knowledge and professionalism in my field. It was painful to learn how this nonprofit doesn’t do as much good as they portray and you will be underpaid and undervalued from your true worth.
