Pros

The people you work with day to day are lovely.

Cons

Employee development is a myth here—unless you count learning how to avoid pitfalls. There is nothing resembling training & development planning, evaluations or even regular reviews. Persistently escalating issues feels like shouting into a void; senior management decision-making resembles a "choose-your-own-disaster" adventure. The diversity and equality metrics paint a picture that resembles a vintage black-and-white film: overwhelmingly white, straight, and male-dominated. The culture resembles a morale black hole, devoid of social benefits and lacking any meaningful employee focus.

Pros

You will get a varied workload at GMD a chance of title progression if thats something you care about. You will have ownership of a large area due to the small company size.

Cons

As an engineer here you won't do engineering, you'll find yourself spending 90% of your time in Microsoft teams meetings and the remaining 10% project planning. The engineering here is sub par across the board, design and quality both similar to what you'd see in a first year university project. Management couldn't plan a kids birthday party, so forget a realistic time plan for a production car. You will be continually set up to fail and attacked for not meeting their non sensical dates. The company has serious cashflow problems as a result, very unstable, taking on more projects than they have any hope of delivering. The environment here is toxic, toxic individuals are rewarded as authoritive and as such nothing is done to stamp out their behaviours. Poor working culture, you won't talk to your colleagues as you'll spend your time in virtual meetings. No events set up to improve working life by HR.

Pros

The people doing the work are brilliant, particularly in engineering where there are some very talented people. Most of the function areas of the business have nice, friendly people who are quick to offer help. It's not as male-dominated as I thought it would be and a great mixture of ethnicities. The cars are cool.

Cons

The company is being run by a bunch of old boys too afraid of embracing change and new ways of working, which is ironic given the type of cars they're building. 2 day WFH policy recently scrapped with no warning so you HAVE to be in the office 4 days a week, non-negotiable - unless you're in a management position, then you can swan in and out whenever you feel like it, or in most cases not bother to come in at all. There are very few processes for anything, basic tasks take far too long. Very little support from anyone in management, any mistakes you make are used against you and if you do manage to do something right, it's either not acknowledged or stolen for management to take the credit. Zero work-life balance. If you like work-place bullying, toxic masculinity and utter chaos then this is the place for you!
