Pros

Nice colleagues Hard-working culture; most people will bend over backwards to get the job done

Cons

One or two senior people run entire company, with everyone else marching to their orders and catering to their daily whims Everything is last minute - everything Meetings run back-to-back from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. , so actual work happens evenings and weekends Most people extremely overworked, and miserable, which leads to some very unprofessional on-the-job behaviours

Pros

An old heritage company. Very good dedicated, long-term staff and colleagues waiting to leave Gore. Good opportunity if you want just fancy titles due to ambitious goals set by company CEO. Very good place to work if your focus is a media savvy person than transformation to do guidewire implementations.

Cons

1. Most leaders are from TD & Aviva with no prior transformation experience but nepotism from other leaders in the industry. Resulting in lot of politics for a medium size company. Lack of merit based reward system. 2. Small sub set of staff who delivered guidewire in quick time are not recognized hence leave or let go. 3. You can't question the two ego maniacs running the company as otherwise, you get tagged as not aligned with company goals. No intellectual discussions. 4. HR leadership is mostly from TD & GE with no experience in culture transformation. Don't expect anything from HR partners as most HR recently hired are coming from irrelevant industries including retail sales person. 5. PMO at Gore is just there to spy on behalf of current CEO than do PMO Job. 6. 60 plus staff in a 600+ company have left or let go due to above this year, more to come

Pros

- Dedicated and hard working staff at least those who've been here a while - Decent bonuses - Great place to work (three years ago)

Cons

- Talented and hard working staff being driven away or fired in place of "new and better" talent. - Over 100 new staff hired in the past few months have been given disproportionately high pay over those who have been at this company, worked so hard and broken their backs over the past several years. - Culture is extremely toxic, back-stabbing is rampant, negative and the leadership do not want to hear about the pay inequality issues or any other problems and want to pretend everything is perfect. Everything is perfect, at least for them. - Nepotism is running rampant, scores and scores of new senior and executive leaders hired recently are in return hiring unqualified friends and former colleagues to senior leadership roles (do your research on LinkedIn)
