Pros

Grainbridge used to be a great place to work. We all loved our jobs and had fun at work. The benefits were good (health insurance, 401k, competitive pay), hours were flexible and everyone there was on the same page, working on an app that was going to truly help farmers make better decisions and manage their operation more efficiently. We never lost sight of that.

Cons

GrainBridge recently got a new CEO: Mark Johnson, formerly of Descartes Labs. Mark was hired in April 2020 by the GrainBridge board of directors (made up of 3 Cargill execs and 3 ADM execs). He's a Stanford grad, as he'll tell you within 5 minutes of meeting him, who loves nothing more than talking about himself, from his vast array of accomplishments within other companies and all of his connections, to his coveted blue checkmark on Twitter. About every other sentence starts with, “At Descartes Labs we did such and such”, with the implication being that we need to do the same thing at GrainBridge. Within a time span of 2 months, Mark single-handedly destroyed GrainBridge. After he was hired, it quickly became apparent to all of us that he does not care about farmers we’re building apps for or our team. Mark cares about one thing - himself. After repeatedly praising the team and culture at our company, Mark spontaneously decided to let 1/3 of the company go - during COVID19. And with that, went the heart and soul of the company. And it’s sad, because we were well on our way to achieving our mission of “changing farming forever”. The reasons were not financial as we receive more than enough funding from Cargill and ADM. To make matters worse, these employees were let go on a mass virtual call by the snake COO, Terry Chvatal, 3 days before the end of the month, and lost their health insurance during a pandemic! Mark lacks the empathy, experience and basic leadership skills to be a CEO. It's incomprehensible that the board chose him. FARMERS, know that the GrainBridge you’ve known for the past decade no longer exists. All employees with real farm knowledge and experience, including the founders, are gone. Mark DOES NOT CARE about farmers. He cares about getting himself in the press and destroying our competitors (he’s obsessed with Indigo Ag and Farmers Business Network or FBN). GrainBridge is a stepping stone to advance his career. We predict that he’ll sell the company to one of our competitors as soon as he can and be on to whatever doomed company he takes over next. If you’re considering taking a job at GrainBridge, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Reach out to any current or former employee on LinkedIn to verify for yourself - this is not a place you want to work.

I’m really sorry to hear about your experience with me and with the company. That is not how we want our team members to feel. I respect everything that the GrainBridge team has built over the past decade. This years’ changes do not diminish those accomplishments. We’ve had a number of changes over that past 6 months, but we’ve also gained traction and moved forward. We’ve been able to release our product in mid-September, hopefully a nod to the theme of “changing farming forever today.” Our product is a step-change for farmers and I’m excited to iterate, take feedback from them, and build something incredible. Another company that has lost it's moral compass

Pros

--good health insurance --bonus incentives (though I don't know how long that will last) --decent vacation if you're just starting out --used to be filled with people that really cared about one another

Cons

--no sick time --current CEO laid off 1/3 of the company for no apparent reason --no clear plan for the future --since the new CEO arrived the company and it's leadership have lost their morals --lack of empathy --currently very unstable --I would NOT recommend working here --very much a work hard mentality, not many breaks or outings --not enough community involvement --lack of full, transparent communication in many things

Thanks for your comments. I hope that you feel that we've improved considerably since June. We've worked hard to define our company culture and promoted a transparent and open environment. Grainbridge has had a lot of change this year. Unfortunately, change often means that there's a period of what can feel like instability. Even so, we launched our product in September and our team is really proud of ourselves for achieving that critical milestone. One note is that we have four weeks of PTO, which combines vacation and sick time into a single package. Also, we're working on getting more involved in the community and have recently done some work with RISE Omaha. Mark Johnson, CEO

Horrible "Leaders"!! Going Under. Don't work here.

Pros

Used to be a good place to work where leadership left us alone to do our jobs and provided support when needed. We enjoyed coming to work every day. Those days are gone.

Cons

New CEO Mark Johnson is tanking the company. Only cares about himself and his image. Other reviews said it perfect which is funny because leadership is digging hard to find out who wrote them. No one wants to be there anymore. No one respects Mark. He's bringing in all of his "friends" as talent and their just as bad as him.

Thanks for your feedback. Given that we're a small company, I encourage you to come and talk to me, especially since you've been here for such a long time. I'm sure you could help me learn about cultural elements of GrainBridge that we want to preserve. I'm really proud of the team over the past 6 months for rallying around a product release, which we finally achieved in mid-September. My goal at GrainBridge from the very beginning was to get our product into market so that we could get feedback, improve, and iterate. Thanks to the team for achieving that in a year of many changes.
