Pros

The industry and the space that the company operates in is interesting. The customers are interesting. Good location. Decent snacks.

Cons

This company follows the "at-will" employment to a T. They don't give you even a reasonable amount of time to come up to speed with the new industry, company and challenges. They expect miracles on day one. And if it doesn't suit them or their timelines, they'll get rid of you. Granted, it is an early stage start-up and there is a need to be aggressive, but not at the expense of your workforce. No wonder many good people have also left the company voluntarily. There is no culture here, no one cares about the employee and the atmosphere is cut-throat. The leadership team thinks they have a grip on the situation but they don't. They've also had the wrong people with the wrong skills on several key positions and several inexperienced people heading key departments.

Cons

mismanaged, CEO openly requested employees be less nice to one another, egotistical senior management, lacks collaboration and energy, very cheap in terms of compensation and investment in culture/employee development.

Pros

Due to the pandemic, we got to work from home

Cons

It’s funny how after 1 bad review, you will see all these fantastic excellent reviews. Hmmm, I wonder how that is possible? Sadly, but this reflects how the company operates. They’re always trying not to face the truth/facts by deviating from it. They talk about this fantastic supporting culture when in reality, things aren’t that way. It’s more of this - “if we don’t talk about it, it will go away” type of environment. Due to my role, I get to collaborate with many managers, and I can say a few of them do care, but the majority of them don’t, especially if you’re an IC. Many managers are title driving and like to make sure you’re aware that they have a higher title than you. I know many real reviews from actual real people have touched on the diversity aspect, I can say they are making a lot of noise about it, but that’s all - Noise. They haven’t implemented any real actions to see any actual changes. Many people are unhappy but are scared of leaving due to the difficult employment situation with the pandemic. It’s shocking how this type of company with this toxic environment has lasted this long - but again, not really.

Thanks for sharing a bit about your experience. We’re very interested in hearing and helping address any challenges you’re facing. We provide many ways to provide feedback beyond talking to your manager including team surveys and a policy of answering any/every question at our monthly All Hands. Granular works towards hiring no/low ego people so disappointing to hear that has not been your experience. Diversity and inclusion is a priority for us. We have company goals tied to ensuring we have diversity across the company especially at the leadership level and are offering training in 2021 to ensure everyone feels they can bring their authentic self to work everyday. Thanks again for taking the time to provide some feedback. It’s highly appreciated; we’re committed to always getting better.
