"no ego" is our motto and thank you for the feedback. i accept it and will talk to the team.
there are times that "LCD" code (in order to get to market quickly) are paramount. and yes, there are other times that we dig too big a hole of technical debt which is also expensive. personally, I think that IS the right tightrope we must walk to lead a nimble tech company in a very competitive industry.
even at our best, like in trading, many unsuccessful outcomes will polka-dot our victories. unlike our larger unicorn competitors, anything we did, we dreamed of and made- there was no legacy system, nor marching_orders_from_HQ, no superstar flown in to save us.
so, we have always had a lot of top talent in grasshopper. as all of us could be exposed to and working on any project simply by asking to be involved or attending a meeting. We shared information across the firm to spark ideas- the brilliant ones and occasionally the "dubious" ones were chosen. rarely is the outcome clear except in hindsight.
strategically, i am going to guess that where you thought "top-talent" was vs where I think it is are different.
Anyway, we will certainly keep the milk flowing and maybe some beer too as we head up as a company to Vietnam this holiday weekend. Ill have a chat with the team and see how we can improve.
thank you for your service. Best wishes.
