Toxic Leadership, Blame Culture, and Misalignment with Clients
Pros
None that outweighed the cultural and leadership issues described below.
Cons
The culture is unhealthy and it starts at the top. Accountability is inconsistent across departments. When development, product, or operational issues arise, leadership often defaults to blame rather than ownership. The environment feels political and defensive instead of collaborative, with teams operating in silos and individuals focused on self-protection rather than shared outcomes. Open communication and trust are not prioritized. Backchannel criticism and shifting responsibility create instability and erode confidence company-wide. There is also a noticeable disconnect between how the company presents itself to banking partners and how leadership speaks internally about the regulated businesses those banks serve. That inconsistency damages credibility. The broader industry faces real regulatory and market challenges, but those realities are not clearly communicated to employees. As a result, teams lack context for business decisions and struggle to align their work with the company’s actual financial and strategic position.
