      OK if you want to quietly do what you're told

      Pros

      Good pay Lots of autonomy (unless you work with the CEO) Very smart co-workers (good recruiting department)

      Cons

      Cold, bland culture Nerdy, socially awkward engineering department (including CEO) Very little collaboration or team work No acknowledgement of achievements or praise of any kind No true management, just engineer bosses No career development Very little customer interaction Hard to see impact of product CEO is very arrogant and closed to any ideas that aren't his own CEO belittles employees and customers

      You can trade in weekends and company holidays for more PTO. Flexible hours Fully paid healthcare, low copays

      Cons

      Do you enjoy working hard and trying to make an impact only to be told to refactor all of your code to someone else's vision? Do you expect 40 hrs/week to be base line - because at the performance review considers 50 to be the minimum for a passing grade. 10 company holidays and 10 vacation days is substandard for technology companies

      Pretty good place to work, if you like to hack all day without interpersonal interaction.

      Pros

      Santa Barbara is a wonderful city to live and work in, and GHS lets you set your own hours (within reason) such that you can take advantage of the awesomeness of the city. Go to the beach to play volleyball or tan in the daytime, and come back and code all evening.

      Cons

      The developers consist mostly of antisocial and awkward individuals, more so than at other companies. They tend to be very nice and well-meaning people, but some people might not want to spend time with co-workers out of the office, though the city is small enough that its difficult not to.
