Pros

Vacation time (when they thought it would be appropriate to take) Criticism (supposed to make you stronger right?)

Cons

The nice thing about this company was that it was small so people just starting out have a chance to grow. However they do not care about their employees at all. They stated this whole "employee engagement" bs which none of the superiors wanted to be involved in. They basically wanted the community managers to come up with ways to solve their problems. They had meetings and all the input that was put in was not even acknowledged so that fell through the first day. They wonder why their employees are unhappy... it is because no matter how hard you work here, it never gets acknowledged. They cut Christmas bonuses the last two years... The year before that we at least for $100 but then they were too cheap to give their employees that. There is absolutely no training here. They expect you to watch videos and learn everything on that. When you ask for help, they are always busy. The other part to this is that there is no structure at all. There is one person above you and then the owner that lacks tact. He is disrespectful and thinks that his sense of humor is funny but actually is really unprofessional. They say if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. He never learned that. I really enjoyed working here at first but then after a while it because unpleasant. There were no career opportunities because they didn't have any properties. They really did break my heart because they make the best employee's hate what they do and every day felt like a black hole. I love my job, I loved what I did, but I did not like this company nor the people who run it.

Pros

Onsite staff was more supportive than upper management. Because of this, networking with other properties replaced the comradery one normally feels with a corprate office. The residents were understanding of change.

Cons

This company is experiencing serious growing pains. They want to be bigger than they have the means to be. Due to the small staff at the corporate office, urgent contact is rarely successful if it's needed and a new employee is lucky to even know who to contact at all. Their training is self implimented. Staff is left to figure out systems, policies, and procedures on their own. Aside from general industry-standard web-based training modules, the employee is left to their own devices. Questions and clarification seeking are encouraged, but scrutinized when acctually needed. Lord help you if you have a question you do not already know the answer to. This is obviously a company of Mean Girls. They will represent themselves as otherwise and have full confidence they know what they are doing or talking about and the employee is the lesser human. They expect communication with upper management, but do not extend the same courtesy to onsite management in such a way that it negatively impacts their job performance. However, they pay no mind to this and it is the employees fault for confusion. Thier sole concern is CYA! Even their procedure binder is the bare minimum- literally to the extent of "enter all bills weekly. (Good luck learning the system to enter them into. We neither have the time or concern to provide you with further instruction, but you're accountable for any mistakes)". Do not expect more than the bare minimum in training, support, direction, or professionalism. However, being verbally abused, berated, and cursed at in front of staff and residents is not outside of the realm of possibilities.

Pros

The pay was okay. Benefits were good.

Cons

Heartless company. I worked at a very run down property with a lot of pest control issues and crime, etc. These were issued before I came on to the property and when I refused to lie to potential residents about whether cockroaches were a problem, or ask tenants to pay for fumigation, I was reprimanded and eventually fired for not maintaining a high occupancy level. Yeah, right! Like I'm going to knowingly rent out bed bug infested apartments to unsuspecting families. By the way, that apartment complex has literally been torn to the ground now. Good riddance.
