Pros

There is nothing to gain from working at Green Tree other than low self esteem, gray hair, and ulcers.

Cons

There are so many layers of Vice Presidents it is amazing that anything ever gets done. Anything below an Assistant VP (Directors, Managers, Supervisors) has no authority whatsoever over personnel decisions, budgets, goals, or even day to day operations yet are held fully accountable. The level of micromanagement borders on obscene. Priorities change almost daily, and projects are never completed, leading to a vicious circle of incompetence that never really improves. Cronyism is commonplace; this leads to individuals completely out of line management having more authority than higher level management positions. Many employees and a lot of management are tenured; there are many managers and supervisors in positions that they have no business being in and are only there as a result of their time spent with the company. Employees are largely treated as commodities, and new hire positions are traded almost like baseball cards between VPs.

Biweekly paycheck. Opportunity to witness the very worst of corporate America.

Cons

Extremely poor treatment of customers by management directive . Skirting of regulatory laws by management directive. Poorest reputation in the financial industry : currently being fined by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and under scrutiny by several other regulators. Mistreatment of employees to include private personnel matters of former employees in bravh meetings.

They have very competitive pay and benefits. The soda machines only cost $0.25! Amazing

Cons

They suck so bad. No one knows what they are doing. This company is like a mom and pop company only they have over 2 million loans. All the systems are home grown so the longer you stay, the less likely you are to ever find another job. You can't take the "skills" you learn any where. This company is in a never ending spiral of back log and catch up work. The management doesn't need to know anything about mortgage to be hired. If you have managed a goat farm, they will take you any way. Don't even know what mortgage mean? Hired! There is also a lot of favoritism and the only way you can get ahead is to become BFFs with the AVP. No matter your experience or education, you'll only advance if you are a brown noser. The corporate ladder is seriously broken and can be bypassed if you're liked, but used as an excuse to hold you back if you're not a favorite.
