Pros

The staff I work with on a day to day business are fantastic and make the work bearable.

Cons

Treatment and neglect of staff is an ongoing and continuous issue where we have to endure freezing temperatures in the winter without any heaters provided. It has recently been -5 in the warehouse and nothing was done to ensure or check on staff wellbeing. In summer, temperatures can reach above 30 degrees in the warehouse. Chairs is a no even if you’re in a permanent standing position for 7.5 hours a day for a desk that is at seated height. Staff are constantly undermined and treated unfairly and are expected to go above and beyond for a company that doesn’t care about them. In the opening of the new warehouse, an attempt was made to stop any bottled drinks (cans or sealed) being allowed into the warehouse and only allowed to drink during lunch breaks even though managers are sent to leaving mugs of hot drinks in the warehouse when walking around. Overtime payments are also liable to be delayed making staff never want to work any overtime to help out the company during busy times. Office staff are constantly seen to be treated far better than the warehouse staff causing a high level of staff turnover and consistent need to be training new staff.

Pros

Coworkers are nice and good to work with.

Cons

Job advertisements are misleading or incorrect, often being advertised as an IT position only to perform basic warehouse roles. The conditions in the warehouse are awful. The building would reach low or even sub-zero temperatures at times during the peak of cold weather and no form of heating was turned on or provided such as heaters. Additionally, phones are prohibited for warehouse operatives, and chairs are not allowed on the warehouse floor, even for those working on laptops or who are mainly stationary. In my experience the management has been poor, warehouse workers are treated without respect and as expendable and there is little or no recognition of the work performed, with no options for job progression or a raise. The conditions in the offices are a stark contrast, leading to a large disparity between office and warehouse staff in terms of their outlook on the company. No compensation was given for the move to the new site, and had no health and safety briefing or even a tour of the site before working there.

Pros

Not much in terms of pros!

Cons

Health and safety is being constantly ignored. Dust is a real issue with the amount of used equipment going through here, but no cleaning schedules are set. Operatives are meant to tidy up at the end of the day, but management had limited the tidy up time to 5 minutes a day. The only real clean ups occur when there's an audit or a client visit. No PPE apart from a high vis vest is provided for anyone. When the styrofoam compactor is running, the whole warehouse can smell the fumes, but nothing is being done about it. Up until they refurbished the reception area, you could smell the sewage every day, multiple times a day. In the summer the warehouse is boiling hot - reaching temperatures of 30 degrees and freezing cold in the winter, as there's no climate control system in place. Growth within the company is very limited. In my 2 years at the company I have not see any of my peers be promoted or given a pay increase.
