Pros

- Team are talented, hardworking people who when they have the time are willing to help - You will gain lots of valuable experience and be exposed to different businesses and industries, getting an impressive set of skills in a short time - The team are young and keen to make friends and socialise - The company mission is exciting and the founders are passionate about delivering a good experience to clients

Cons

- Outdated company culture glorifies long hours and working until burnout, managers frequently work weekends and team work evenings to get tasks completed - “Flexible” hybrid working policy isn’t practiced, working from home is discouraged - Pay isn’t competitive so they hire a young team - No real socialising unless you drink and are the same age as the team - No HR department or mental health first aider

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and for calling out the strengths of the team, we agree they’re talented and supportive. It's worthwhile addressing the cons head on. We don’t celebrate long hours and we don’t expect weekend work. Peaks happen around urgent client issues and are part of agency life, but they’re the exception, not the rule. When extra time is unavoidable, we expect managers to plan better next time and to offer time off in lieu. We actively coach against “always on” behaviour. Our policy is hybrid by default and remote days are standard. We ask people to be in when collaboration or training benefits from it (client workshops, onboarding, quarterly planning), but discouraging working from home is not our policy. If that was your experience in the team, we would have like to know when you were here so we could address it. We’re a small business. We don’t run a traditional HR department and don’t need one at our size. Founders and managers handle people matters directly, with clear 1:1s, feedback cycles and access to external advice when specialist input is required. As we grow, we keep investing in manager development and capacity planning. Sometimes don't work out the way you want, expect or hope for. We’re not perfect, but we keep improving and keep moving forward. If you’re open to it, contact the founders directly so we can understand the specifics behind your comments.

Pros

Gripped offers great opportunities to learn and develop skills, especially in digital marketing, operations, and strategy. The team is talented and collaborative, and you can gain exposure to a variety of industries and clients. If you’re self-motivated and eager to grow, you’ll find plenty of chances to take on responsibility early on.

Cons

The agency is disorganised at times. Priorities and processes change frequently with limited consultation or discernible benefit to task owners

The feedback is really appreciated. We're buoyed by the positives you found working with us, but obviously concerned with the cons you've outlined. Salaries and benefits are made very clear to staff before they join and we have both proactive pay reviews in place on a regular basis, as well as proactive 1:1 sessions with all our staff at least once a fortnight. These are opportunities to discuss (amongst other things) such matters. We would welcome an opportunity to understand why all of these policies and ways of working didn't work for you in terms of matching your expectations with your pay - if you can reach out to the founders directly (you will have our details) we would be happy to discuss.
