Pros

New trucks, old trailers?? Electronic logs. Drivers are held accountable for everything unfortunately no one else is.

Cons

Starting off 2016 with a driver getting killed and a terminal explosion, not the first by the way (right wichita) really shows that safety is first. Training is done by a follow that guy he will show you what to do mentality or by a guy just doing it for the extra $27, you get what you play for.

Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns. We are all deeply saddened by the loss of one of our drivers on Jan. 3, and it’s clear this tragedy affected you on a personal level as well. He was an instructor, a by-the-book, outstanding driver and person, and we are confident the other driver in the accident was at fault. The terminal “explosion” in Liberal, Kan., on Jan. 12 was actually a fire, and its cause is still under investigation. Our deepest concern is for the well-being of the injured employees after what we believe will be proven as an unfortunate accident. The tank truck industry, including Groendyke Transport, carries an immense responsibility to its customers, the general public and its employees. Our company is full of dedicated, serious people like you – from drivers to the front office and everywhere in between – who work long hours to meet the tremendous responsibility of hauling hazardous materials. Safety is our company’s primary value, and we have processes, procedures and systems in place to ensure all of us are held accountable. I appreciate your concern, your feedback and the anonymity of Glassdoor. If you have further concerns, I’d be happy to discuss them with you. I can be reached at 800-843-2103. Sincerely, Greg Hodgen Groendyke Transport President

Pros

Good equipment. Many Locations.

Cons

Groendyke is a factory. Everyone in the fuel hauling industry "HAS" worked at Groendyke. The company cannot keep employees. There are a few employees that have been there 5 + years, and that's it. They advertise a "different class of driver" . However, walk inside the terminal and there are signs saying "If you need help un-hooking a trailer, please ask". No Tanker experience needed is another red flag that Groendyke overlooks in their hiring. In orientation, they let you know that Groendyke monitors the internet. How HR has time to do this and not connect with the employee on his way out is another red flag. Maybe it is because HR is on hiring trips with terminal management?! Another red flag for an employee looking for a career is that there is no seniority. It is all favoritism. You will have a new hire with no tanker experience, no tractor trailer experience, working a sought out shift over a experienced driver.

Pros

There is absolutely NOTHING positive about this company that should make you want to apply here. I would drive a trash truck, a porta John truck, a septic truck before I ever went back to Groendyke.

Cons

Micro Management No Privacy Favoritism Horrible, confusing insurance If every trucking company were like this, there wouldn’t be a trucking industry.

We do apologize for your experience with management at Groendyke, in fact we are currently going through a few management changes at the Fort Worth terminal. We are aware of some issues that have come to our attention and are consistently working on improving driver experience at our company. We recently conducted an anonymous driver experience survey and we offer an anonymous Ethics Hotline for our employees to report any issues they’re having. We also understand that health insurance can be confusing sometimes and we do have a section of orientation during training dedicated to health insurance as well as a free health advocate to help along the way.
