High Staff Turnover For A Reason

Pros

The team is incredibly friendly, hardworking, and talented at what they do, and are a big draw to working here. The legacy of Guaranteed Irish is what attracts the good staff, and the amazing members of the company make the day-to-day tasks interesting. There is so much potential to this not-for-profit, and if there was proper management the opportunities for growth are enormous.

Cons

As all the previous reviews have outlined (apart from the few that strongly appear to be PR'd by management)—the CEO makes working at Guaranteed Irish untenable. Gaslighting is rife, and staff are often set up to fail, and then worked harder in retribution. The CEO has no issue announcing that you "dropped the ball" in front of the other staff in formal meetings (this has happened on multiple occasions, regardless if the employee was even at fault), and your feedback will depend entirely on what mood they are in. There is difficulty hiring new staff because of the glaring toxicity, and as each new staff member turns in their notice, the burden of the duties required just gets handed to the next person left holding the bag. As a result they are chronically understaffed, and in a state of constant induction. In terms of career growth, there is none, and any attempts to work your way up or further your career in this company will be met with a dressing down.

Pros

Some lovely, underappreciated people in the office. Each talented in their own areas and frankly, they deserve more.

Cons

Where does one begin? There's a reason, I've named this "If you don't laugh, you'll cry", because that is a phrase thrown around by the staff on the daily. It's hard to believe how messy things are. As we all know, there are 3 parts to any business: Marketing, Sales and Fulfilment. Their is essentially no marketing or fulfilment as once someone becomes a member, they receive virtually no benefits except a little bit of ego stroking and a "feeling" of "I'm doing the right thing because I have a green G on my packaging". This is hell for the fulfilment team as they're constantly fire-fighting trying to stop members from cancelling, which ironically is unsustainable. Another phrase thrown around is: "If you think of it like a scam, it makes sense".... When I heard that, the business model suddenly made a whole lot more sense. It almost feels like a get-rich quick scheme as sales are the only thing that matter. Want to genuinely help people and businesses? You won't be able to. Regarding Marketing, there is zero control over what you can do. Inject a bit of creativity into your content or have a unique idea? Prepare to get a rude, misspelt and gramatically unforgivable email (lol) from the CEO immediately questioning your decisions. If you want to make positive change at this company, you simply can't. You will be instantly shut down as this place does not value skillsets. It simply hires people to tick boxes, which would be fine for a lot of people looking for jobs, but even if you play it incredibly safe, prepare to be bullied by management for your incompetence. So if you're a "Yes Man" and like being walked all over, this is the place for you. However, if you're someone who wants to enjoy their work, help people and actually have a fulfilling career, do not come here. You will find zero fulfilment and there is no career progression. This explains why there is an unholy turnover rate. Ultimately, I could write a whole book on the cons of working here, but I'll leave you with this. You see those 5 star reviews? They were written by management and the CEO in attempt to curb the genuine reviews on this site.
