Pros

Management respects family time and are flexible with schedule when unexpected emergencies occur. The benefits are great.

Cons

Favoritism is well known, unless your bff's with management, don't expect to be seen or heard. Don't expect to fit in if you have morals and principals as a human being. If you stand up for yourself, it will be frowned upon. Upper management favors those that kisses up and will do anything to make bad things look good. Promotion? If you're not a friend of management, don't expect promotions. They only promote within their little circles even if you're more than deserving of the promotion. Hard workers are put to use but definitely not acknowledged. Management will take your hard work and credit themselves for it. Cross training is limited and frowned upon. If you're ambitious and want to learn, they'll just sweep it under the rug and pretend you don't exist. If it's not someone's job that is listed in their description, don't expect anyone to want to learn. If you want experience within a CU, this is a great starter company. As for growth, don't expect it all.

Guardian Credit Union (WI) Response

Thank you for expressing your frustrations. Every organization has strengths and weaknesses, and we have overcome quite a few changes in the past couple of years to ensure that our organization can continue to grow within the community. Whether it is at Guardian CU or elsewhere a President/CEO cannot take all of the fault for everything, though that is where a lot of people tend to look. A CEO should rely on their management team at hand to come to a collective decision as a whole executive team, and provide direction if needed. Being President/CEO is not an easy feat, but our current CEO goes above and beyond to over communicate with his management team and staff, as well as make an effort to be present in all 6 of our branches. It is something that he thinks is very important- having a presence and getting to know employees of the company. We can always learn from past mistakes, and yes move forward to correct them. Some of those mistakes, however, cannot be corrected overnight. We have already taken corrective measures and continue to actively work to improve and prevent past occurrences from happening again in the future. Again, we are saddened to hear about your frustrations and appreciate your feedback. We wish this was something you discussed with us while you were with Guardian. That is in fact the beauty of working for a smaller organization, as you have a greater chance of having your voice heard. You just have to raise your hand and be a part of various committees, etc. to help shape the organization. Wishing you the best in your future endeavors.
