Cons

Pros
Remote work opportunity for advertising and marketing departments, but my manager required me to screen share for 70% of the workday, which was micromanaging and made it difficult to focus.
Cons
Poor training: The only training I received was from a salesperson on a Google Meet video call. They copy-and-pasted from older performance reports, revised the data, and sent them out to clients, with no focus on accuracy. The reports were often so haphazardly thrown together that even I couldn't understand them. When I politely pointed this out to my manager, their response was, "Don't worry about that, we just need to get these reports out." I take my work very seriously and could not in good faith create and send out reports that I knew were incorrect. Hierarchy is not clearly defined: On paper, I reported to the COO, but my "manager" was an advertising salesperson. This caused many issues for me as a non-sales employee. I was constantly reminded by this salesperson that GunBroker.com gave me the salary I asked for because I told them I could do the job. They frequently suggested that I work a couple of extra hours a day to rightfully earn my salary. This is a sales person, not a member of HR. Volatile working conditions: I was hired to steward advertising operations, i.e., collecting advertising assets from clients, tracking campaign health and delivery, and providing reporting for campaigns to clients. However, I was frequently asked to do creative tasks outside of my duties and responsibilities. Because I have a background in creative writing and a bachelor's degree in English, my "manager" the advertising salesperson asked me to review and make revisions to GunBroker.com's media kit for client presentations. Termination without cause: I worked at GunBroker.com for about six months when my employment came to an abrupt end with a call from their single HR person saying that I had been terminated for "poor performance." During my time at GunBroker.com, I never received written or verbal notice that my performance was not to their standard. Not to mention, on my last day of employment before being let go, my "manager" had me give them a crash course on how to use the platforms that I used daily for tracking and reporting. After explaining to them in detail how to use these platforms and watching them take notes, they disconnected the call while I was talking to them. This was the last time I ever spoke to them. Warning to job seekers: I experienced much more passive-aggressive retaliation while working at GunBroker.com, but if you're reading this review, I'm sure you've learned enough. I hope you make the best possible decision for you and your family. I am still trying to recover financially from my decision to take a job at GunBroker.com.
