Pros
Many faculty are truly dedicated to excellent teaching.
Cons
The university is desperate for students, who are then coddled, catered to, and passed through the curriculum in an effort to keep them. Personally know of several instances in which students were "given" passing grades for classes they did not take or failed. Plagiarism is often overlooked by both faculty and administrators. Unprofessional relationships between faculty and administration. For example, some faculty are allowed to call into meetings while others (same department / same meeting) are not.
