Pros

The nurses, aids and volunteers are amazing!

Cons

Zero communication between management and staff and throughout the organization, management with zero hospice experience, non-performing marketers (keeps the census low), poor/limited training, under paid and over worked staff with no overtime permitted (although most employees work overtime in order to finish their assignments), over-priced benefits, difficulty taking time off, as they are so under-staffed. People constantly getting laid off, medical staff quitting (including Medical Director) - do not walk to any of their open positions, RUN and RUN far away!

Pros

Most of the front line staff are truly dedicated and talented professionals. They go above and beyond for their patients and families. The pay was decent for the area.

Cons

Once Chapters took over HPH it seemed that decisions were made solely on financial criteria, rather than on patient or staff needs. Many staff were laid off, leaving way too much work for those still employed. Case loads were increased to the point where the social worker was only able to put out fires, rather than provide the emotional support, education and guidance most families need, especially at first. It was almost impossible to do the job in 40 hours, especially for the nurses. Management began to have a punitive attitude, rather than being supportive and helping staff learn from errors. Also, benefits were decreased yet cost more.
