Literally the worst company I have ever worked for.

Pros

They have great health insurance. There are also some co-workers that are also experiencing the same terrible working conditions in the same way that you are so a camaraderie can develop from mutual negative experiences.

Cons

It is comical that HRI is ever in the running for "Best Places to Work" in New Orleans. HRI's motto is to hire the least amount of people as possible for the least amount of money and force them to take on roles and responsibilities that should be handled by at least 2 or 3 people. This keeps their costs down so that they can maximize distributions to the owners and bonuses for the executives. No matter how hard you work, you will not be appreciated by the HRI management. HRI's management is so ineffective and scatter-brained that it is a surprise when something actually gets accomplished especially considering the cut-throat and back-stabbing environment and the fact that communication does not flow from one department to another. While HRI has actually hired some really great and intelligent staff, it is not worth joining their team as you will not get any training and for sure be over-worked and under appreciated.

Pros

There are frequent openings and promotional opportunities at HRI Properties, but only because there is huge employee turnover. The company is growing, so growth potential is there. They will reimburse you for certification, however the process is so ridiculously complicated, and the instance of HR "dropping the ball" so frequent--it's really not worth it. The IT department is filled with a lot of great, hardworking people. Not sure how much they are appreciated, but they do an excellent job. Employee morale across the board, however, is so low as to not even register.

Cons

Absolutely no training for new employees, it truly is a "sink or swim" environment. They attract a lot of fantastic talent with a lot of big promises--then invariably let them down in a big way. Regionals are overworked; as a matter of fact, they are required now to not only be regionals of multitudinous properties, they must also be community managers of at least one. This, of course, means everyone from the regional down suffers; employees at the property level, residents, vendors... everyone. Community managers are unappreciated and considered very much expendable. In New orleans, HRI is affectionately known in the industry as "The Meatgrinders" among other property management firms - and for good reason. The Human Resource Department and Upper Management are so ineffective, disorganized and chaotic as to be just laughable.

Pros

Can be good working environment depending on the manager one reports to - some perks. There are some great people working there.

Cons

Found HRI to be a very cut throat culture. Have witnessed the abuse and unprofessional treatment by managers although my manager was not abusive. There are a many cliques and much gossip executed by hyper-critical megalomaniacs. HR does not discourage this behavior because they are the ring leaders. There is absolutely no team building because no one trusts their co-workers. Employees are not properly compensated for their work.
