Overall a good place with good people, but the leadership and management style needs some updating
Pros
Great office space, nice people to work with, great experience, there is plenty of room to grow, interesting projects.
Cons
Senior leadership is very non-confrontational and lacks accountability. They rarely own up and confront their mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes yet when a project is not delivered as expected, all accountability is placed on the employees. Maybe leadership does actually hold each other accountable, but it's likely done behind closed doors. If that is the case then it is extremely unproductive and will not actually solve anything. It isn't a sign of weakness to hold the entire team, including leadership accountable if something goes wrong. It is not that leadership at HWC are nefarious gaslighters, but are simply following outdated leadership and management styles. Perhaps for the engineering side, this model is still very effective and works. But for the creatives and designers on the team, the leadership model is very outdated, hierarchical, and prohibits room for their employees to grow. Now, this isn't to say that the leadership and employees are terrible. They are actually some of the kindest people I've worked with and genuinely try to build connections with their employees, but in an outdated way.
