Pros

*Good benefits / family-friendly policies for people with kids *Centrally-located office space *Clients tend to be nice people/organizations dedicated to good causes *Outstanding creative team

Cons

Sadly, a great DC brand has been run into the ground by the events of the last year. The firm's rhetorical fixation on work-life balance becomes a con when it's exploited by bad apples who have found a comfortable niche and (sadly) their managers who run interference for them. Home-grown talent and superficial company cheer-leading is rewarded instead of hard work and competence. As other reviewers note, the culture of favoritism and protecting time-servers is demoralizing and has caused a lot of good people to leave. There's no serious business development strategy; bona fide opportunities are missed while pet projects get undue attention. Turnover rate was 25%+ in 2015 and good people have moved on.

Pros

The best components of Hager Sharp include its amazing work-life balance, the physical space, and the people. Employees at Hager Sharp put in hard work to produce some pretty awesome work for their clients, but they also acknowledge that taking time off is important for overall well-being. Employees receive a large amount of vacation/sick days and people are not penalized for taking a day off. Additionally, the offices are really nice due to great location and ample desk space. What really shines at Hager Sharp, though, are the people. Almost everyone at Hager Sharp is competent, friendly, and passionate about the work they do. Rarely do people feel excluded from socializing at work. Beyond the typical pros, Hager Sharp has really been incorporating digital, creative, and research into its offerings over the past year. While the company may have been a little on the slower to side to integrate, it has been changing rapidly. The company has also expanded beyond government clients, which is beneficial for the company in the long term.

Cons

Some people fall through the cracks at Hager Sharp. They may be talented but they may have a manager who does not effectively lead them or help them succeed. This causes individuals to become frustrated with their lack of movement in furthering their careers. Additionally, pay at Hager Sharp is not the absolute best. Also, the lack of process at the company leads people to become confused when trying to get something done and not knowing the correct pathway to complete a project. Finally, there seem to be way more benefits for older, married employees at Hager Sharp who have children than for single individuals at Hager Sharp. This sometimes leads to resentment between the generations.
