Reliable pay and decent health plan, but avoid the company
Pros
They paid on time and offered a decent international health plan.
Cons
Imagine you sign a contract with a school in China, and when you arrive they ask you to sign a contract appendix which changes the terms to which you agreed before leaving home. That is precisely the kind of business practice this school engages in now under the current leadership. Current executive principal came from a competing school and somehow pushed the old leadership out and took the helm, then only to run the school into the ground. Executive principal is either grossly incompetent or a bad actor intent on harming the organization, former is more likely. There are really too many problems to mention here, but if anyone at HB in Melbourne is reading this, you should come and immediately perform a welfare check at the Tianjin school for both students and staff, as both are being abused and exploited by the administrative practices of the school. Kids are known to be often fainting in class and acting out due to neglect. Local staff are overworked and doing their best, but not getting the support they need. They have NO curriculum and basically told the teaching staff to "make an ACARA curriculum on chatgpt." Middle management in teaching positions have been known to scream and berate children in a cruel and inhumane way. Staff have also been treated inhumanely, being asked to skip lunch in order to perform work. There are really too many examples to mention here. If the school is to continue operating, which seems unlikely due to the mass hemorrhaging of student numbers seen in the past two years, then the HB organization must come and investigate thoroughly, restructuring as needed, as this brand affiliate is creating an immense reputational risk for the Haileybury brand, both in Australia and abroad. Please investigate before something terrible happens here.
