Pros
The company spreads itself pretty thin over too many aspects of the CPG industry, but that does allow you learn more than you might at a more focused design agency.
Cons
Tough to find kind things to say about Haney. The Haney brothers are CEO/CFO/Co-Owners and they are pretty tough to work with. Company direction and performance are shrouded in secrecy for no apparent reason, so you have no idea where you stand or how you're doing. Compensation and benefits are pretty spartan, and in combination with the expectation that employees be available to regularly work overtime on little to no advance notice and with no form of bonus pay or additional compensation, it often feels like you're being taken advantage of - you usually will not know until 5:00 PM whether or not you will be expected to stay into the evening to oversee a project on any given day. Given the fact that the Haney brothers rarely interact with employees below the executive level and typically leave the office themselves each day before 3:00 PM, it is easy to feel undervalued for your time and devotion to your projects. In the grand scheme of things, the following is a minor detail but should give anyone considering Haney an accurate glimpse into the culture of the company: Despite the fact that there are only 45-50 employees and there are several hundred available parking spots at the facility (all within a 30 second walk to the main entrance) the two spots closest to the entrance are marked as reserved for the Haney brothers, and they park their matching Lexus sedans (I kid you not) there each day. One day, in one of my first few weeks at the company, I parked in one of the Haney's spots on accident, not realizing the brothers had reserved them for their use only. I was quickly pulled aside and told in hushed tones to move my car immediately. The spot directly adjacent to the reserved space was open, but one of the Haney brothers would not settle for the third-closest parking spot for the afternoon. The holiday bonus was a $20 Kroger gift card.
