Pros

hours, good colleagues, great collection of jewels

Cons

Gender, Race and Wage DISCRIMINATION. Incompetent and unprofessional HR. From the retail to the corporate, everyone talks behind each other's back, everyone is fake, egotistical and liars. White privilege and entitlement, toxic environment, typical corporate: money> employees, everyone is replaceable, many feel miserable. Unfair pay : new/external hires get paid more than internal. No employee recognition even if you've been there for 100 years. Management can be nice people, but they truly don't care about you or anybody other than themselves. They don't want you speaking up, getting deserved pay, pointing out THEIR wrongdoings.

Pros

This company has some amazing people working there. I was able to establish relationships among some awesome people. The location, pay and benefits were pretty good.

Cons

Unfortunately mgt at this company need to get their egos checked at the door. Every team has a high turnover rate but the higher ups do not care about the problem. They expect everybody to be a puppet and they don't care about what you have to say. The company currently has no direction. They're currently riding on their former glory days. If you're a nice person with talent, stay away!

Salon assistant

Pros

Big brand. Sales executives are very nice and very willing to train and teach the new girl.

Cons

Everything works in the salon is based on seniority, so the everyone is very entitled to their positions in the salon. Thought out the training process, the most senior salon assistant is responsible to train you, and there are many micromanagement from the team. They expect you to remember everything in the salon within a day or two. Specially when it's opening and closing, you have to remember where every jewelry goes. There are the whole list of dos and donts and you have to do everything closely with the list. If you are the translator in the salon, it is an extremely white work environment, therefore you might easily get name called, the translator, servant etc... Turn over rate is high because simply there are no big picture in this position. It is very different from what they described on the job description. They are very good at giving you big pictures and makes you to think you will have many opportunities after being the salon assistant, but the truth is it is very rare. If you have a heart to build your career in the fine jewelry industry as a sale executive, this maybe be a good place for you. But for other directions, this position certainly not a career stop.
