Pros

Lots of interesting customers and staff. Really diverse crowd from all over the world.

Cons

Very corporate position, and employees aren't compensated that well.

Pros

Lots of opportunities to work independently and learn more about bookselling. If you're interested in something, you can usually find a way to get involved. Coworkers are great and very supportive.

Cons

Raises are 50 cents/year and starting pay is much lower than other bookstores in the Boston area. Management is hands-off to the point of absenteeism.

Pros

Great people, great work environment, enough free and/or cheap books to satisfy even the biggest bookworm

Cons

It's an indie bookstore, so you aren't going to be making good money. "Labor of love" "work family" atmosphere, which is really a double-edged sword
