Pros

While there were a few positive moments, such as some kind and empathetic guests who showed support during difficult times, my overall experience working at the company was negative. I faced ongoing harassment from management, and despite some isolated acts of kindness, the work environment lacked the professionalism and support necessary for a healthy workplace.

Cons

I am writing this review to share my deeply troubling experience while working as a waiter at Harvester (Reading). My time at this establishment was marked by consistent psychological distress, stemming directly from the actions of the management. Throughout my employment, I was subjected to persistent verbal abuse and gaslighting by the manager. Their behavior included repeated public humiliation, manipulation of other staff members against me, and false claims about complaints that never occurred. On multiple occasions, I was harassed in front of customers to the point of tears, incidents that were then treated with ridicule rather than concern. Despite raising these issues through the appropriate channels, no meaningful action was taken. The company failed to address the abusive conduct, instead demonstrating clear favoritism toward the manager involved. This lack of accountability created a toxic and unsafe workplace culture where employee wellbeing was entirely disregarded. What I experienced was not just poor management, it was harassment. No employee should be subjected to such treatment, nor should any company allow it to continue unchallenged. Harvester’s inaction in the face of repeated complaints reflects a systemic failure to protect its staff. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone.
