Pros

There are some great people who work for this company. Surprisingly, they've been there for a long time, which can be good or bad. The stability is good if you're part of the clicky club. Some senior managers are decent and hard working.

Cons

I felt like I took 10 steps back in my career, personal growth and development by moving to Hawthorne. I have never worked with such a dysfunctional team who have zero experience and/or knowledge of their department. People get promoted into positions they are definitely not qualified for, but because they're friends with senior management, Hawthorne believes it's a good fit. Expect to carry the dead weight of your coworkers who are lazy and/or clueless. Some of the higher up employees are sexist and it will remain that way for as long as they stay with this company. So to the women out there who want to advance themselves, this is not the place for you. The company is very behind times and is still very much a good ol' boys club. There is zero flexibility or work life balance. Turnover is high in certain departments, especially in HR, which impacts the entire organization. This company pays lower than anywhere I have ever worked, yet it's located in one of the most expensive areas of the country to reside in. The amount of work expected from employees is insane, especially for how low this company pays.

Pros

Excellent team dynamic with a family feel to each work day. Team member's opinions and work are valued here. The owners and management know your name and will commend you on hard work performed. That doesn't happen in every organization. Each day I walked into work knowing that my success and development was supported and celebrated.

Cons

The pandemic meant that volunteering efforts had to be placed on hold, so Hawthorne's Community Outreach Committee was not able to reach as many groups in 2020 as in previous years. Hopefully volunteering can begin again soon.

Pros

Great people willing to work hard and very loyal, but they are unhappy.

Cons

Management doesn't think anything is wrong. How can things change if they have blinders on.
