Pros
The people I worked with every day were some of the most intelligent, kind, supportive people I have encountered in an office environment in many years. This was the main heartbreak of being laid off. Hybrid office policy and work flexibility were one bonus.
Cons
The job I was hired to do was eventually turned into menial Microsoft Office projects, internal requests for miscellaneous tasks that other people did not have time or skill to do on their own. My specific team was small and we were denied the same resources and continued learning opportunities that were offered to those in engineering positions. Upper management and those in certain senior roles were either A.) more concerned with potential new business leads, or B.) "Too busy" to notice or recognize the day-to-day grunt work that was being put in beneath them even though it was all to directly benefit them. Many late nights of work put in due to last minute requests by a select few in upper management. Ultimately this work would go without praise, appreciation, or recognition (especially during performance review time) Peer/co-worker reviews were a joke unless you worked with the same people consistently, which was not always the case. management spoke of wanting to promote and advance people on a yearly basis... but be careful if you got reviewed by people who rarely worked with you or did not know you and your projects well enough to advocate for your raise. Upper Management "advocated" for mental health/burnout awareness... but did little to nothing at all if you expressed needing time off or assistance in those areas. Upon being laid off I was promised *timely* support and resources provided to me by HR/Recruiting for my impending job search, however I was never contacted at all by the person who was supposed to offer job search resources. HR took a month to respond to my questions via email and some responses were short and unhelpful. Being laid off is already difficult enough but their "support" and communication was severely underwhelming and made the situation that much more stressful. * Oh and the biggest kicker was seeing a job posting a few weeks later for my previous position - just in a different office location.
