I have continuously challenged my supervisor in their management style and lack of equitable, collaborative practices. In my attempts to confide in someone on the team, I was met with gossip and bullying among them. Throughout my short time here, I have never felt like my professional development or even comfortability in my role was a priority for anyone.
You might ask why I didn’t approach someone about this. Well, that’s simple - we did not have an internal or external HR. I feverishly debated approaching the Executive Director with my challenges, but it is very clear that they are both personally and professionally close with my direct supervisor, which I feared retaliation for approaching them.
This organization claims to be inclusive, but many colleagues have voiced transphobic rhetoric with no corrective action.
