Management in the Central Business Office is a major contributing factor to a rigid office culture of complacency and bullying.
Daily, I hear upper management use verbal insults when referring to certain employees by calling them “morons”, “stupid” or “incompetent”. Oftentimes, those insults are heard by the employee firsthand.
Managers will make their intentions of firing an employee known to the rest of the department, then everyone treats that employee like an outcast and completely ignores them. It’s actually very cruel.
The Central Business Office consists of a core group of long-term company employees and managers that have become comfortable in their roles, set in their ways and refuse change.
This group (including upper management), is also easily threatened by new office employees that may potentially outperform, discover procedural inefficiencies, shed light on alternative solutions or go against their social “status quo” in any way.
