I'm a girl and can say that the culture in the company felt like a sorority. Pay was horrible and I was a good salesman (or "brand ambassador" as they refer to it: a misnomer and euphemism). The products are horrible. Pillows are made in the USA, they say. I think that entails sewing the pillows shut in Alabama. The Smart Circle group is horrible. The only reason this isn't a pyramid scheme is because you don't have to purchase the products you push. Did I mention how bad the pay is? You sacrifice having time off and the pay is so bad that it is inequitable to give up that much of your life. You travel a lot and are not compensated for gas or the mileage that you put on your vehicle. There were a few cool people that worked there while I was there, but they drank the Kool Aid and for some reason seemed to enjoy working there. Morning meetings were a joke and a huge waste of time. Real companies have sales meetings once a week at most. The sales systems that they use are tried and true, but the pressure to regurgitate the systems is absurd. In real companies bosses have notes that they read with pertinent information; they don't have all the employees get quizzed on the sales systems every morning. I can't get over how stupid that process was. I am very happy that I have since forgotten those systems and left the company. If I was the "owner" of one of these "companies" I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night. You reap the benefits of your sales people working insane hours (with travel especially) for next to nothing. The most successful sales people make peasant money.
