    Pros

    A long standing Building Services Consultancy over 150 years old which provides secure jobs and fast career progression within its offices across the UK and Middle East.

    Cons

    Salaries are not competitive enough within the industry which cause poor retention of staff. A lot is expected from each employer with little reward. Work life balance is not valued.

    Advice to Management

    Invest more in your staff which means more competitive salaries and greater wellbeing benefits for staff. Your employees are your greatest and only asset. They should feel valued by the Partners.

    I worked at Hoare Lea full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Established brand, few nice people

    Cons

    * Salaries much lower than the average industry rates
    * The reward for hard-earned promotions is a joke!
    * Unrealistic deadlines
    * Unpaid and unappreciated overtime
    * Incompetent and highly political management
    * Tolerated culture of bullying
    * Favouritism and cliques
    * Old fashioned and unwilling to make fundamental changes
    * Spending time making political connections is favoured over dedication and hard work
    * Once you’ve been labelled as an outsider, the middle managers (supported by the higher levels) will make your life hard
    * Male dominated and not female-friendly unless you’re in HR or admin

    Advice to Management

    * Be more human and bring greater diversity and morality into the management system
    * Oversee the power of the middle management, and observe those who are actually doing the work
    * Bring good examples of true leadership rather than just management
    * Pure focus on financial profit without caring about employees health, well-being and professional progress will make good people leave and demoralise those who stay
